News and Announcements 2019-2020

Last month, our VEX robotics representative for the state of Tennessee evaluated the list of top individual skill scores for middle and high school teams. One of our middle school teams, Team 16859B, ranked high enough on that list to earn a place at the VEX Robotics State Championship Tournament. Shawn Clevinger, Bayne Kesterson, Corbin Messer, and Jacob Zeller will travel to Brentwood, TN on March 6 and 7 to represent LCA at the middle school robotics state tournament. We appreciate all prayers for safe travel, collaboration, and many opportunities to glorify God through the act of design!

LCA's robotics team has competed at 4 regional tournaments this season. Our high school team started the season being awarded the sportsmanship award at our first tournament in Holston Valley, TN. Throughout the season our teams have risen higher in the ranks with our middle school teams making it to the semifinal matches at Wartburg, TN and our high school team ranking among the top 5 teams at both Holston Valley and Mountain City, TN tournaments.

Spirit Week 2020 concluded with an afternoon pep rally that was overflowing with school spirit and class pride ... and a little bit of dunking, dancing and confetti too! LCA’s 6th graders won the door decorating competition and our seniors claimed the spirit stick following a well choreographed dance routine! Thank you Lions for an amazing week! #CorTotum #LovingLakeway #LCAClassof2020

CCA's Kindergarten classes hosted the 2020  "Q & U" Wedding on February 14. This silly mock wedding ceremony celebrated the joining of the letters Q and U (because they are always together in words!). Kindergarten students participated in the ceremony while other CCA students attended.

Congratulations to Aiden Murrell who was selected to represent Lakeway in this 2020 All-East Weekend. Aiden performed at the Park Vista in Gatlinburg with the ETSBOA 9/10 Red Band!

We are excited to announce the addition of Tri-Cities Christian Schools to the Lakeway Christian Schools family. Located in Blountville, TN, Tri-Cities Christian Schools has been providing a Christ-centered education with a biblical worldview since 1973. They reached out to us for help in continuing their mission of bringing Christian education opportunities to the Tri-Cities area.

The school will come under the umbrella of the Lakeway Christian Schools Board along with their administration and faculty. We look forward to the years ahead as we join with our brothers and sisters at Tri-Cities Christian School to partner with families to provide a Christ-centered and academically challenging education, equipping students with a biblical worldview and a heart for Christ, that they may grow in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and man.

There will be no changes to the day to day operations of Cornerstone Christian Academy or Lakeway Christian Academy. We simply want to share how God continues to open doors to impact our culture for His glory. More information will come in the weeks ahead!

If you didn't respond to our LCS parent survey, it's not too late! Click here and share your honest feedback!

Congratulations to LCA head coach Randy Coffman for winning his 500th career game as a head coach this season. He picked up the milestone win in a victory over Knoxville Christian on November 22, 2019.

Coffman was presented a 500th win basketball at home in front of the Lions fans on January 9, the same night his team came from behind to beat The King's Academy.

Plans for 2020-2021

As we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, we are excited to announce that Mr. Chase Tuggle will be joining Lakeway to teach Bible. He holds a degree in Christian Studies and has spent his career working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and most recently, teaching Bible at Christian Academy of Knoxville. His wife Avery (pictured here with their two sons) is a middle school history teacher at Lakeway and together, they are excited to be a part of the bright future at LCA.
