Lakeway Welcomes KC Alvarado
Lakeway Christian Academy is excited to welcome KC Alvarado as Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Student Engagement.
Mrs. Alvarado will be partnering with our school counseling department to prepare students for College and Career, through experiential learning, community partnerships and building relationships. Our CTE program is unique to Christian Education and a valuable component of the comprehensive educational opportunities within Lakeway Christian Schools.
Originally from Jefferson County, Mrs. Alvarado comes to Lakeway with a background in marketing and public relations. She most recently served as the CTE Program Manager at Hamblen County Schools. She is co-founder and chair of HOLA Lakeway, a non-profit that helps facilitate positive integration of immigrants into the Lakeway Community through education.
“I am excited to be a part of Lakeway Christian Schools and want to be able to help students find their purpose by using the gifts that God has given them,” Alvarado said. “Through my previous experience, I have really enjoyed helping students navigate what their future looks like and partnering with the right organizations to help them hone those skills.”
Mrs. Alvarado and her husband Frank have one son (Urijah), who will be attending Cornerstone next year (4th grade). The Alvarado family is very active at Temple Bethel International Church, serving as Youth Leaders and on the Worship Team.

Just a quick reminder of the new Cornerstone Address:
4801 S. Davy Crockett Parkway
Morristown, TN 37813
We have had some families recently that had their mail returned because it was address to the old address.
“The Hunt” (formerly known as “Warrior Wars”) is planned for May 10 (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.) and will feature teams of students (mixed grades 6-12) competing against each other in a variety of events. In order for this to be a great day for all of our students,
We will be hosting a Girls’ Night next Friday, May 10 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Cornerstone Campus chapel. We would like to invite all middle school and high school ladies to come join us for a night of fellowship and worship as we close out this school year. We are hoping that this will be an opportunity for us to take an evening to slow down and really dive in to who we are created to be as young women in Christ. We are asking for $2 to help cover food and drinks. Please RSVP to Mrs. Reed at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
Prefect Positions for 2019-20
Dear Lakeway Families,
As previously communicated, Lakeway has adopted a Prefect model for student leadership. This model is used in a number of independent and Christian schools around the world and serves to provide increased leadership opportunities for our students.
Leadership committees are formed around defined areas of school life for both the middle and high school. Membership in these committees is open to any students who are interested and willing to commit to contributing to that committee’s work. The committees are each lead by a student leader who is selected from the oldest grade in that division – 8thgraders for middle school and 12thgraders for high school. These student leaders are called Prefects. Each prefect is assigned a faculty mentor to provide guidance and support for their committee’s activities.
The 2019-20 Prefect leaders are:
Spiritual Life – Hannah Creech
Service – Nathan Catron
Academic – Kenzie McGhee
Campus Pride – Layla Arwood
Admissions – Moriah Reed
School Spirit – Hannah Pressey
Student Life – Emma Burnett
Spiritual Life/Service – Patti Ann Ballinger
Academic – Natalie Long
Admissions – Ellee Brown
School Spirit – Olivia Calloway
Student Life – Mary Woods McVicker
We are very excited to begin the transition to this new system for student leadership. Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the education of your children!
