E-Weekly April 29 - May 3

Arts Festival - May 7, 6:30 p.m. (Manley Baptist Church)

Plan to join us for our annual Arts Festival, an evening that will showcase the many gifts and talents of our students. This event will feature K-2nd grade students performing a couple songs, a short musical performed by our 3-5 graders, the LCA band, LCA choir, and LCA orchestra.

Some important information for parents:

  • Rehearsals will be Tuesday, May 7 during the school day.

  • At the event Tuesday evening, we're asking all that attend stay for the duration of the concert to minimize distractions of our worship and time in between groups

  • Have your student in their seat at Manley Baptist Church at 6:00.

  • Teachers will be present to help direct students to their seat if they forget where to go.

  • You will need to pick your child up from their seat at the end of the concert.

  • K-2 will be wearing khaki pants, red polos, school shoes

  • 3-5 will be wearing UNselfie shirt (provided by school), blue jeans, and school shoes

  • 6-12 will be in tuxedos and black formal dress (provided by school)

Artwork will be on display at Cornerstone during the month of May for all to enjoy. Stay tuned for details.

It's time for Change Wars! (April 29 - May 3)

All students are being asked to bring in "spare" change to support Lakeway's Change Wars this week. The proceeds from the competition as well as the ROARathon 5K / Warriors Fun Run this past weekend will directly impact our families through Lakeway's financial aid program. The girls are competing against the boys to see who can bring in the most money this week.  Change will count positively for your gender when inserted into the marked jug. Cash will count negatively against your opponents total collection amount. Let the CHANGE WAR begin!

To clarify: Cash is to sabotage the opponent and should be placed in the opponent’s jar. At the end, all coins will be counted and all cash will be subtracted to get a total for each particular jar. Happy Change Wars Week!

Calendar:

Just a reminder that we have launched a new calendar system for LCS. A few things to know:

The published version of the calendar will have all events that you need to know about. That link is available on every page of the website (www.lcstn.org), in the top bar (blue – LCS and LCA pages; Red – CA pages).

Subscribe to Calendars:
One of the great features of this calendar is that you can subscribe to an iCal feed that will populate your own personal calendar (on your computer or on your mobile device). As events change over the course of a school year, that will be automatically updated to your feed. We encourage our staff and families to take advantage of this convenient feature.

Visit our new athletics website (lakewaylions.org) for all information pertaining to our athletic programs. Tryouts, start dates, schedules, etc. coming soon!

Robotics Team Meeting:
Thursday, May 2, 6:00 pm (Chapel)

We are excited to be looking toward the 2019-2020 LCA Robotics team. There will be a meeting for students and parents of students who are interested in participating on the robotics team in the coming school year. This meeting will serve to establish communication with parents and provide specific information regarding a summer robotics camp, next year’s robotics game, what to expect from participation on the robotics team, and how to be a part of robotics at LCA. To join the robotics team, students need to be currently in grades 6-11th, willing to learn new things about science and engineering, ready to work with a team, and prepared to work hard on their robot. Feel free to contact Mrs. Morris (mmorris@lcstn.org) with questions.

The Hunt - Volunteers Needed!

“The Hunt” (formerly known as “Warrior Wars”) is planned for May 10 (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.) and will feature teams of students (mixed grades 6-12) competing against each other in a variety of events. In order for this to be a great day for all of our students, we need a few parent volunteers to coordinate the details of each station and lunch. Contact Mr. Ezell if you are willing and able to help!
